Nominate a Hero
All Unsung Heroes are individuals who have made a significant difference in the lives of the people they serve, showing consistency, reliability and a talent for serving others. You can see the different categories for this year’s Unsung Hero Awards below.
Nominations to receive an Unsung Hero Award will be open to the public for a two month period, from September 1 to October 31, 2024. After that, an awards committee will select one winner from each category.
Nominations will open on September 1, 2024.
Legacy Hero
An award to an individual from any sector of public or civil service who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the Lexington community throughout their lifetime.

Civil Service Hero
An award to an individual who has worked in government or civil service for a minimum of 5 years.

Community Hero
An award to an individual who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the public good of the community outside of their primary employment.

Education Hero
An award to an individual who has worked in the education field for a minimum of 5 years.

Essential Hero
An award to an individual who has worked in manufacturing, waste management, transportation, and other essential industries for a minimum of 5 years.

Health Hero
An award to an individual who has worked in the emergency response or medical sector for a minimum of five years.
