All Unsung Heroes are individuals who have made a significant difference in the lives of the people they serve, showing consistency, reliability and a talent for serving others.
An awards committee has selected the winners from each category. You can see the different categories and their winners below. Awards are listed in alphabetical order by award title.
Rolanda Woolfork, Legacy Hero
An award to an individual from any sector of public or civil service who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the Lexington community throughout their lifetime.
Edward E. Dove, Civil Service Hero
An award to an individual who has worked in government or civil service for a minimum of 5 years.
Judith Humble, Lanance Martin, Elisha Mutayongwa, and Remy Simpson, Community Heroes
An award to an individual who does not fit into one of the categories listed above, but has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the public good either through their employment and/or in their community.
Justin Royal, Education Hero
An award to an individual who has worked in the education field for a minimum of 5 years.
Amy Ross, Lifeline Hero
An award to an individual who has worked in the public safety sector for a minimum of 5 years.
Gale Reece, Social & Family Service Hero
An award to an individual who has worked social or family services for a minimum of 5 years.
